i was first introduced to the work of elizabeth huey by my dear friend matthew rodriguez a few years ago and instantly fell in love. she has a haunting aesthetic that i’m told was borne of a period of early life she spent in an institution. her pieces consist of dreamlike scenes of 19th century images (medical contraptions, people in period dress, tudor houses) with ghostlike shapes and angels.
The Examination of the Oversensitive
i am so in love with her moody, fragile, nostalgic, heavenly and sometimes frightening work. viva la femme!
