Joie de Vie is in the business of rejuvenating their clients so it was due time they got a restoration of their own. They were eager to get rid of their tired pinup logo and turn heads with an edgier/downtown look.
hello sweet darlings, it has been a while – my apologies! i have just relocated my daily creative routine to a new studio space which, after a little funky decoration, has proven to be a total ‘inspiration den’! here’s a photo of me on the floor of the studio just before laying out the my big new black shag rug.
may rolls on with lots of projects in the cannon: keep your eyes out for a new logo design for fabulous local downtown salon and spa joie de vie, album artwork for several amazing austin bands, beer labels for a darling new texas microbrewery and more! in the meantime, here are some new goodies to check out:
you must check out los angeles-based ‘glam-country noir’ band blue blood. blue blood performs the kind of ominous americana that leads you down an an old dirt road with it’s seductively lethal lyrics then abandons you in the middle of the night, leaving you wanting more. stay tuned for a new logo/tshirt design from them. in the meantime, here’s a video for the band:
for those of you who love bass in your face, you’ll be happy to hear about the newest nightclub to hit the streets of austin, Kingdom. it’s an intimate club housed within an old studebaker showroom – completely renovated with a rippled ceiling and minimalist architectural touches. every element within the space was carefully planned to enhance your experience: state of the art lighting systems, recycled and environmentally friendly structures that help to shape the sound, and the best damn sound system you’ll ever hear. kingdom’s soft opening is this wednesday, may 18. you can find it on 5th street between congress and brazos in the alley of the frost bank building. kingdom looks forward to bringing the hottest dj talent from all of the world to you.
up next is a poster for the lovely and talented theGlitoris who was featured in the may monthly installment of cousin claudia at elysium. if you didn’t make it to the party, you can catch theGlitoris every tuesday at tuezgayz dance party at barbarella. trust me, it’s so much fun!

first and foremost i’d like to wish barbarella video dance club a very happy 1 year anniversary. in such a short span of time, they have become a premiere place to see, be seen, enjoy a volume of music new and old, and get your dance on. they’ve also moved into the much-larger space next door for the ever-growing nightly crowd of revelers.
barbarella’s birthday bash, which takes place this sunday, will be the debut of their new shirts – designed by yours truly! it’s a revamp of jane fonda’s barbarella and you can see it’s pop art incarnation below:
i have to admit, i indulged in a little self-gifting this holiday season with an adorable new diana mini lomography camera. i can’t wait till it gets here! i’m already planning to take photos for leatherbag, mike and the moonpies and frank smith with it. so while my digital nikon is getting the lens repaired, i’ll only have my glorious little film cameras with me.
and as a result of the influx of cameras in my collection, i have made a new year’s resolution to post more personal photos on here so you lovely readers can get a glimpse into my hectic little world.
one last thing is the finalized tshirt design for dallas based pop band spookeasy. some of you may remember album artwork i did for them a few months ago. now they have a fun zorro-lion shirt to add to their merch.

okay so i’ve been working for weeks and weeks on putting together a logo for a ‘top secret’ project here in austin. it’s been a painstaking process and pretty difficult because, since the lounge doesn’t exist yet, i don’t have anything really to build upon. i’ve made about 5 logos and this is my final one. they’ve actually found a logo by someone else they say they’re going to use but i just sent them my last effort so we’ll see what happens. fingers crossed lovers!
i think i’ve decided if they don’t use it i’m going to make it my own new logo. now downtown for a much needed few glasses of jameson.
